Ever since I was at school I have been fascinated with the subject of health and fitness. Having excelled in athletics at school (short and middle distance running and Javelin), I always knew that I wanted to pursue a career in fitness. So I read and digested as many books on the subject as I could and started training myself and my friends and family, which soon led to friends of friends etc. ​ I officially started my Personal training business back in 1996 and have never looked back. Now with over 25 years practical experience, having worked for numerous gym chains, independent gyms and schools, I can boast that I am one of the most extensively qualified and experienced fitness coaches in the Portsmouth area. ​ I was amongst the first people in the UK to become a REPS accredited trainer when the register was first launched in 2002, and during this time, I have had the good fortune to work with and be certified by some of the best trainers in the industry and I have had many hundreds of hours of practical, hands-on coaching experience. I have worked extensively with people from all walks of life from housewives to military personnel and aspiring recruits, emergency services personnel, many endurance athletes, martial artists and various other elite athletes. I am very proud of my achievements and reputation as a trainer. Specialising in functional fitness, I was among the first trainers in the country to adopt CrossFit, Kettlebell training, Bodyweight suspension systems and Clubbell Training. I was responsible for introducing CrossFit (Which is now a worldwide phenomenon and household name) to Portsmouth back in 2009 when I became the first certified CrossFit Trainer in the area. I went on to open Britannia CrossFit, the very first CrossFit gym in South East Hampshire. Since then several other facilities have tried to emulate my gym but none have come close. My dedication to my own continual professional development has brought me many opportunities to train with the leading names in the industry. This has meant that I am constantly learning and keeping my skills up to date, ensuring that I can bring the latest advances in training to my clients. Collecting knowledge and qualifications has become like a second hobby to me and I consider it an obligation to my clients. I believe that fitness training should be fun as well as functional, not a chore – but an enjoyable experience. I base my training systems around the body’s natural movement patterns, ensuring that not only will you be in the best shape of your life; you will be better equipped for the challenges of everyday life. I use evidence based methods to ensure efficient use of time and to guarantee maximum results.
